Fad Diets


A fad diet is whatever diet is popular at time. Examples of such diets include the Atkin’s Diet, the South Beach Diet, or any of numerous hit-and-miss plans that become available in the marketplace. Another fad option is having pre-made meals delivered directly to your door. Some diets are based on detoxification, while others are based on low calorie plans, and yet others are based on avoiding carbs. A fad diet may be useful to you if you are trying to lose weight, but it is important to choose one that fits your body and lifestyle. Depending on your weight loss goals, whether you are trying to live a healthier lifestyle, lose a couple of pounds, or have a medical condition that requires weight loss, different diets will be safer or more effective for you.

Talk to your doctor to determine which diet best fits your weight loss goals, is the most attainable for you, and will let you safely and effectively lose weight. Regardless of the weight loss program, a diet should be accompanied with a carefully chosen exercise routine. Studies have shown that exercise and diet together are the safest and most effective way to lose weight. Any diet should be expected to have steady - not rapid - results, rather than a quick fix. Steady weight loss is the safest way to a healthier body, along with insuring that the weight stays off.
