The 3-hour diet is a weight loss plan that is based on the theory that timing matters if you want to lose weight. It was created by bestselling author and fitness trainer, Jorge Cruise. In his book, which is also called, “The 3-Hour Diet”, Cruise explains how it is timing that makes you drop pounds, not low-carb diets. On his book’s cover it states “Stop hunger”, “Stop depriving yourself”, and “Start losing belly fat first”.

Participants of this diet will eat small, balanced meals every three hours. Cruise says that by doing this, the body’s fat-burning potential is boosted. He explains that when a person does not eat enough, their body enters “starvation protection” mode, which leads to the body storing fat, conserving calories and burning muscle for energy. According to Cruise, when you eat every three hours, you are continuously resetting your metabolism. This allows it to remain super active, so you can burn fat throughout the day.

Cruise’s basic meal rules include:

• Eat breakfast one hour after waking up.

• Eat every three hours after the first meal.

• Do not eat three hours before bed.

• Adhere to recommended portion sizes. The total number of calories that should be ingested per day is 1,450 calories. This breaks down to about 400 calories for meals, 100 for snack and 50 for desserts.

No food is really off limits. Although some meal suggestions are provided, the focus is more on timing and portion sizes and not so much on what is consumed.

According to Cruise, by following The 3-Hour Diet, you can lose up to 10 pounds in the first two weeks and 2 pounds every week that follows.

Pros

No food is prohibited on this diet. This means that dieters do not have to give up their favorite foods. They can still enjoy them in small portions and as a treat. Calorie limits are provided for each meal, snack and desserts, giving dieters a guide to follow. Due to the fact that you eat frequently on this diet, it can help prevent you from feeling hungry. Cons

The 3-Hour Diet may be difficult for some people to follow. It is imperative that those who follow it adhere to the calorie guidelines, because it is easy to over-eat on this weight loss plan. Eating too much too frequently is likely to produce the opposite effect and lead to weight gain. This plan does not address the importance of exercise.
