The Fiber 35 Diet is a weight loss program created by certified nutritional consultant Brenda Watson. She claims that through her diet’s calorie reduction program and its boost in daily fiber intake, notable amounts of weight can be lost. According to Watson, fiber helps to fill you up and keep you feeling satisfied, while reducing hunger cravings and maintaining balanced blood sugar levels.

Why Fiber 35?

The “35” in the name has nothing to do with age and everything to do with how much fiber it is recommended that you consume in a day.

The name of the diet is based on the recommendation made by Watson, to consume 35 grams of fiber every day. Although this may not sound like much, the average American eats only half that much (or less), daily. Therefore, depending on the type of diet you currently follow, you may be surprised to learn that you do not consume as much fiber as you think.

Additionally, this diet program aims to minimize the amount of processed foods, refined foods, and sugar that are consumed, replacing them with foods that are high in fiber, such as fruits, whole grains, beans, and veggies.

The Three Phases of the Fiber 35 Diet

There are three phases to the Fiber 35 Diet. These are:

  1. Reducing weight dramatically
  2. Gradually losing weight
  3. Maintaining weight that has already been lost

The majority of the people on the diet start in phase one, though some begin at phase two. Either way, the ultimate goal is to work toward phase three and keep it up.

The book published by Brenda Watson, called The Fiber 35 Diet, explains the concepts and details of each phase of the diet in greater detail. It also explains how the dieter can cleanse his or her body and how exercise must be incorporated into the overall diet plan.

The book can be purchased online for a relatively low cost on Amazon. For instance, the paperback version was $11.80 at the writing of this Fiber 35 Diet review. That being said, it is also available in other formats including hardcover, Kindle and audio (digital and CD).

Fiber 35 Diet Pros

There are definitely some benefits to following the Fiber 35 Diet, these include:

  • Consumption of healthy foods – Regardless of whether or not the dieter achieves the promised weight loss, he or she will be eating healthy foods and minimizing unhealthy foods, so better overall body health will be achieved.
  • Consuming more fiber is good for youStudies have found that the adequate intake of dietary fiber is associated with digestive health and a decreased risk of heart disease, stroke, hypertension, certain gastrointestinal disorders, and certain cancers.
  • The information in the book is helpful – The book provides further tools and information that can help dieters to maximize their success potential and eat much healthier.

Fiber 35 Diet Cons

Not everything about the Fiber 35 Diet is positive. Some of the drawback include:

  • Compromised credibility – Due to the number of infomercials that feature its methods, the diet’s credibility has been called into question.
  • User complaints – Some of its users have also registered complaints about the fact that it encourages them to rely on energy bars and shakes instead of being able to eat real meals.

Not an easy diet to follow – This diet is not for everyone. While following it can lead to weight loss, some who have tried it have said that it is too difficult to follow. Certain limitations and restrictions may make adopting this diet into a regular lifestyle too challenging for some individuals.

Additionally, as the Fiber 35 Diet does require a notable change in diet, it would be in your best interest to first speak with your health care provider before taking part to make sure it is the right, safe and realistic choice for your specific health, lifestyle and weight loss goals.

I was a little doubtful before I started the Fiber 35 diet, but once I got into it, I was actually quite impressed. It was great for keeping you feeling full and I never craved sweets like I usually do. It also felt very healthy instead of feeling like it was a fad diet.

This sounds like it’s just going to cause digestive upset, but it really does work!

I have been using this diet for just over two weeks and I’ve got nothing but good things to say about it. It only took me a couple of days to get into the swing of it and since then it’s been pretty easy. All of the high fiber foods keep you feeling full so it’s not a starvation diet.

Your body has to get used to it at first, but then things settle and it works very well and comfortably and there’s no starvation.
